Accommodation

• Abbey College has residences at Tripos Court and Orchard House, which offer secure, purpose-built student accommodation. All rooms include a desk, wardrobe, and chair, along with WiFi throughout and social spaces.
• Single en-suite rooms located at Abbey College and Tripios Court.
• Single standard rooms located at Orchard House with shared bathroom ratio of around 1:3 students.
• Laundry service available in residence for £3 per wash and £3 per dry. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in each house and live in staff will schedule laundry sessions where the students are helped.
• Bedrooms cleaned weekly.

Dining & Facilities

Dining

All meals are served in the large, modern canteen on site at Abbey College.

• Breakfast: Students will receive continental breakfast. Breakfast includes tea/coffee/squash, toast, jam, spreads, cereal and fruit.
• Lunch: A minimum of 2 options available, including a vegetarian option. Packed lunches for full day excursions and weekends.
• Evening Meal: 3-course lunch with 2 hot options, one of which is always vegetarian. Special diets are catered for.
• Snacks: Vending machines are available for drinks and confectionary.

Facilities

• Large common room as well as a communal outdoor area.
• Students have access to a sports hall.
• Wi-Fi throughout.

Learning

Whilst delivering bespoke lesson materials, the EduBuddy lesson is designed to engage students in discussion, to develop the key life skills of collaboration and intercultural communication, and to provide extensive opportunities to practice and build on current language.

• 17 students per class and classes suitable for students of all levels.

• All learning resources provided are age appropriate and all students receive an end of course certificate of attendance.

Programme

Arrival

Students will be welcomed at campus reception where they will register, check in to their rooms and get their room keys.

Welcome

On the first evening, there will be a welcome activity which is designed to ensure students have the opportunity to meet the staff and the other students. They will get to know more about the campus, its facilities and other useful information which will help them during their stay.

Activities

Activities are organised in between lessons and during the evenings. These activities could be on-site and near to the centre. These may include:

• Sports such as football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball or basketball.
• Daytime activities such as scavenger hunts and drama workshops.
• Evening activities such as karaoke, talent show, and team games.

Excursions and Trips

• Our students go on local visits to Cambridge to explore the charming city on a walking tour or a city quiz.
• Students will get to punt on the River Cam and experience the wonderful King's College and Chapel.
• The programme also includes a visit to the beautiful 12th Century Cambridge Round Church.
• London: Visit this exciting capital city and take a walking tour of central London around Westminster.
• Oxford: Students can get to know the other famous university city and visit one of its most famous colleges.
• Stratford-upon-Avon: Discover the beautiful hometown of Shakespeare steeped in history and culture.
• Thorpe Park: Home to thrilling rides, attractions & live events, Thorpe Park Resort is the ultimate destination for thrill seekers featuring some of the UK's most popular roller coasters.
• Windsor and Windsor Castle: Visit the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world and has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years.
• Brighton: A vibrant, popular seaside resort with beautiful architecture, home to the Sea Life Centre.

Student Welfare

We place the highest priority on care and supervision at all of our EduBuddy centres, so you can rest assured students are well looked after. Members of staff are available 24 hours a day.

• Information about local services
• Assistance with individual and personal problems
• Emergency contact

Medical information

If a student needs medical attention, an EduBuddy staff member will help them to make an appointment. Group Leaders must accompany the student to an appointment. An EduBuddy staff member will accompany any student that is not part of a group.

INSURANCE

If a student does not have insurance, guard.me insurance is available to purchase through EduBuddy.

CASH

Please note that the centre is mostly cashless. Cash is only required for optional activities and room deposits.
